The proud dad and the inspiration behind Dance Dad’s.

In 2022, pitmaster Demetrius “Dee” Johnson started Dance Dad’s Barbecue to help raise money for his daughter Eliza’s dance competitions. He brought his passion for cooking. She brought the inspiration.

What began with one dancer’s dream has grown into a familiar name around Morgan County, Indiana, and beyond. From local festivals to community gatherings, the heart of Dance Dad’s stays the same: good food, a proud dad, and a community that keeps showing up.

Meet Demetrius “Dee” Johnson.

Pitmaster, founder, and proud dance dad. Dee started Dance Dad’s in 2022 to help fund his daughter Eliza’s dance competitions, turning his love of cooking into something the whole community could share.

Today, he brings that same family spirit to festivals, local stops, and gatherings around Morgan County and beyond.
